    FWIW I have now pre-ordered Jeannie Lin’s *The Jade Temptress*. I enjoyed its predecessor, *The Lotus Palace*, and also *The Sword Dancer*.

    I love that thing about Susan, even if it’s a bit too bright for me (at least in summary — there’s a lot of room for nuance on the skeleton). My relationship to Susan is one of those things that traces my evolution as a feminist, and deciding that Lewis (and a large proportion of authors following in his footsteps) was wrong was a big step.

    Also the snow is cute!
