  • Announcing Speculative Fiction 2013: Contributors & Cover Reveal Look at that amazing list of contributors! I am beyond thrilled to be among them.
  • Single woman spends 14 years with mannequin family to make a point
  • What Happened to U.S. Women’s Figure Skating?
  • The Digital Comic Museum This is awesomeness.
  • If you haven’t been following along, the brief version: Mt. Gox This really helped me understand the general shape of what’s going on around Bitcoin.
  • What A Rush! California Couple Finds Gold Coins Worth $10M
  • A lost city reveals the grandeur of medieval African civilization
  • The False Moderate Weighs In The fine blogger behind the Medieval POC Tumblr takes apart an incredibly disingenuous question beautifully.
  • Today in Fat Hatred This explains my deep discomfort and upset with the recent piece in the Washington Post better than I could.
  • What I Owe to Harold Ramis As everyone knows, Egon was the best Ghostbuster.
  • North Korean defector fights Pyongyang with thumbdrive-laden balloons
  • Ice-covered lakes may be bottling arctic cold for spring  Nooooooooooooo.
  • Chronicles of the Veil
  • She wasn’t being rude
  • Doxxing Internet babes: “She wanted it”
  • The Murders Before the Marathon
  • Truth and a Prize Emerge From Lies About Hoffman
  • The internet is fucked Detailed piece on network neutrality, the recently gutted FCC rules around such, and Netflix paying Comcast for bandwidth (I am grossly simplifying things).
  • Say goodbye to Phoenix — and the American West
  • In Honour of Loretta
  • On the expendability of rape victims and irresponsible journalism and Dear Amanda Marcotte
  • Why I Stopped Identifying With White Feminism
  • It’s Not About You, and other adventures in privilege
  • Write angry for the daughters of Hope
  • Goodbye, Dolly I thought this was fascinating–and the reactions in Davies’s comment section are also fascinating.
  • With Great Exposure Comes Great Fear
  • Dear Joanna Russ: A Letter for an Inimitable Writer
  • Take the Woman Out of the Refrigerator
  • Creep Stalks Hot Topic Employee On Facebook, Gets Served (comments are a cesspool)
  • I Didn’t Want To Lean Out I am really hoping subscriptions to Model View Culture are still on sale after next week. Because I want one.
  • The VIDA Count 2013 I’m really looking forward to seeing the spec fiction count coming from Strange Horizons–I hope we see some positive movement. And fewer pie charts, jeezy creezy they are the worst way to present data everrrrrrrr.
  • The Hidden Cost of Nominating
  • Ender’s Mindfuck What I found so interesting about Liz’s post was how closely it tracked to John Kessel’s “Creating the Innocent Killer” in substance if not in style.
  • The Pony Manifesto I would like my pony to be sparkly and involve a cupcake.
  • The Spice “Science Fiction and Fantasy’s Number 1 Most Important News Source!” Vicious and yet incredibly hilarious, too (I have confirmed that it is intended as satire).
  • There were two pieces of fantastic news from SFWA this week. First, the nominees for the Nebula Awards were announced.  So many great nominees! So awesome! (Last year’s nominees were really awesome, too.) And we got our very first glimpse at the revamped Bulletin.  Look at that cover–amazing and awesome! I can’t wait to read it.

I haven’t clicked on all the links yet (that will take me several days), but I did click thru on “She Wasn’t Being Rude”. That link should come with a “keep tissues handy” warning! Lovely, lovely story. Thanks for finding it and sharing.
